About BERWICK & BEACONSFIELD

Berwick is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, that is situated southeast of Melbourne’s central business district. The local government area of Berwick is the City of Casey. During the 1800s, it was a rich agricultural and pastoral area. Eventually, it was developed as a suburb of the city during the 1900s because of its thriving property development. Berwick’s neighboring suburb, Beaconsfield, is a satellite suburb that is 46 km southeast of Melbourne’s central business district. It is located within the Shire of Cardinia local government area.

European explorer, James Cook, was the one who founded Berwick. The area was named after the town Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland, England while Beaconsfield was named after Benjamin Disraeli (Lord Beaconsfield), former British Prime Minister.

There are attractive parks that are located in the town centre of Berwick.
